Future Holds Nothing

by Dream/Clone

Released : 2004

Genre Hip Hop/Rap
Dream/Clone's debut album, Future Holds Nothing, explores social commentary and pervasive thought - both lyrically and musically. Acting as audio set designers, the members of Dream/Clone serve as solid directors of their aural theater. Eliciting a broad range of emotions in their music, they pay homage to film-scoring giants John Williams and Danny Elfman. The album is laden with rich subject matter, and offers introspective pieces, battle themes, and uplifting party tracks. “Livin’ for the Bottle,” a jazz-laced song featuring a sweet flute melody and an addictive chorus, centers on an alcoholic’s struggle for sobriety. “Too Good,” is a raucous battle track, sure to bring energy and high drink sales to any club. The upbeat backdrop of "Fade Away" lends irony to the moving, cautionary tale of two girls on a downward spiral with excessive sex and drug use. Dream/Clone's contrasting styles combine with their intricate rhythms and melodies to create a unique soundscape. Their room bears a film-score floor. Its walls are decorated with Hip-Hop's grooves, flow, and inventive lyrics. The ceiling is infinite, and contrary to their album title, the future, indeed, holds something.
